
Backing up your website is a crucial part of website management. Whether you’re updating your site, migrating to a new server, or safeguarding against data loss, using the cPanel Backup Wizard makes the process quick and user-friendly. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to create a full or partial backup of your website and how to restore your data using the built-in Backup Wizard tool in cPanel.
🛡️ Backup Process Using Backup Wizard
Step 1: Access Backup Wizard

Log in to your cPanel account.

Go to the Files section.

Click on Backup Wizard.
Step 2: Start Backup

Click the Backup button to begin.
Step 3: Choose Backup Type

Full Backup: Backs up the entire account (can only be restored by hosting provider).

Partial Backup: Lets you back up:

Home Directory
-
MySQL Databases
-
Email Forwarders & Filters

Step 4: Download the Backup

Click on the component you want to back up.

Click Download to save the file to your local machine.
♻️ Restore Process Using Backup Wizard
Step 1: Access Backup Wizard

Go to Backup Wizard in cPanel.

Click on Restore.
Step 2: Choose What to Restore

Select one of the following:

Home Directory

Email Forwarders & Filters

Step 3: Upload Backup File

Click Choose File and select your backup file (e.g.,
.gz
or.sql
). -
Click Upload to restore the backup.
How to solve error in establishing database connection after restoring the backup
- Login to Cpanel
- Go to File Manager
- Tap on Public_Html
- Right click on wp-config.php to check Database Username and Password.
- Now go back to Cpanel and click on manage my databases
- Scroll down to Add New User(Username: put database use name, Password: put database password) NOTE: get username and password from the wp-config.php file
- Then click add user
- Then click Add User to Database
- Under Manage User Privileges, tick all privileges and click on Make Change
